Bathroom Cabinets And Fixtures
Now, put the toilet in place, and then the cabinet and the vanity.
New toilets use less water than their old ancestors (1.6 gallons or less per flush as compared to 5 gallons per flush for the older models). You will pay $250 to $900 for a toilet, but you can buy a good, inexpensive toilet for as little as $75.
The gravity flush toilet uses water held in the tank to flush through the system and remove waste. The pressure flush toilet injects water into the bowl and flushes quickly using pressurized water.
Pressure flush toilets have a lot of power, but they are noisy, and some require and use a lot more water than the old gravity models.
Use the instructions provided by the manufacturer to connect your new toilet and secure it with a seal to prevent leaks and rocking.
When you set your medicine cabinet, you will find it easier to install it before you install your vanity. Take the doors off the cabinet so they do not break.
Fit the cabinet between the 2 x 4 studs in the wall. Make sure the top of the frame is level and then secure it.
Your vanity will be installed without a top in all likelihood, since it is easier to handle the top after you have installed the cabinet.
Use a level to find the high point of the floor and figure out what the high point of the cabinet will be. Mark a line through the high point on the wall to reference the guide for cabinet top installation.
If you have a middle cabinet, you should install that first. Draw a line down the center of the installation position on the wall and a matching

centerline on the cabinet so you can guide the installation.
Match the pipes to the back of the cabinet and drill your pipe holes to match the location. It is best to measure and mark these on the back of the cabinet before you install the cabinet.
Slide the cabinet into place and make sure the cabinet is level before you secure it to the wall studs. Follow the same procedure to install any other cabinets that come with your vanity.
Use a wood clamp to clamp the front of each frame together and be sure they are flush. Then screw the frames together.
If your vanity was manufactured with a top in the kit, you can install that after you place the sink place and connect the plumbing.
If you want to tile the top of your vanity, you can follow the directions in the ‘Kitchen’ section above to prepare the installation surface, measure, cut and lay your tile.
Select your sink and faucet fixtures and install those last. Your sink can cost $200 to $500 and it may be a sink that rests on the rim of the countertop and is secured by adhesive or it may be secured by clips underneath the vanity.
A pedestal sink does not provide under sink storage but for a small bathroom or a bathroom for which you want an old-fashioned look, a pedestal sink is a great choice.
Faucets come in all colors and finishes: brushed steel, stainless, colors, gold plate, white, black and red to name a few finishes and colors.
If you are installing new fixtures, choose tub faucets and shower heads to match your sink fixtures and install those as well.
